A selection of my artistic projects

In addition to pencil and charcoal drawings, Diana uses a variety of media including watercolor, gouache, oil, acrylic, Chinese ink, pastel... With her ceramic sculptures and installations, she elevates the fantasy of her drawing and painting to a new dimension.: once capricious and organic, another time geometrical and measured. Multi-dimensionality in all its aspects.

During her visit to Siesta Key, Florida, visting friends, Diana gets inspired by the beauty of nature on the one hand, but on the other hand she finds the role of humans destroying this nature very confronting. In particular the problem of The Red Tide in the Mexican Gulf, touches her deeply. She creates the sculpture “A Tribute to Florida”.

This individual exhibition marks a milestone: Diana exhibits earlier and new work in eight chapters about her artistic life's journey. It is no coincidence that the exhibition took place at the venue the “Lindepaviljoen” in Zoersel (Belgium), where the sculptures of her parents, the recreators of the centuries-old linden tree (see www.toerismezoersel.be en https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindeboom_van_Zoersel ), can be visited.

In the midst of the CORONA period, Diana creates her individual exhibition "TRANSFORMED! The Crane of Temse whispers a CORONA story". The exhibition, inspired by the last Industrial crane of the Boel shipyard, tells the story about the decline of shipbuilding along the river Scheldt. CORONA casts a shadow over this story, but expresses itself in organic forms delicately shaped in porcelain: from geometry to organic.

In 2003-2004 Diana drew one of her master pieces titled “The Quest of the older woman”. The drawing tells the story of a woman who is questioning her existence and looks back to her past and ahead to her future. The tentacles depict lost, existing and future dreams. Diana’s good friend and versatile artist Zachar Laskewicz, https://www.instagram.com/zizbilit/ , got inspired by this drawing and created a series of reels/GIFs telling the story of the “Emulating Eels”. These are based on some film recordings of Diana.

One of Diana’s biggest sources of inspiration has always been Iceland, the country she visited as a young child and revisited in 2022. Prior to the exhibition “Blinding Connection” she creates several sculptures depicting the origin of things.

In August 2024, Diana has a very successful exhibition in Galerie Conscience20, Antwerp, Belgium, https://www.instagram.com/p/C-NMxqMNm5w/?img_index=1 together with glass artist Nadja Verhulst https://www.glassitbeadit.com/ , titled “Blinding Connection”. Inspired by the question how human kind will develop itself when leaving the earth to another planet, Diana exhibits sculptures on Icelandic lava. https://www.gva.be/cnt/dmf20240802_93600642 The two artists feel a strong affection to each other’s works and are currently making plans for their next exhibition “FUSION”, combining ceramics & glass (2025).
